Memphis Grizzlies: Building an all-time starting lineup for the modern NBA

The Memphis Grizzlies have a relatively short history. That being said, they’ve found more success than most other franchises that are as young as they are. With an incredible young core, we’re sure to see even more success down the road.

But that’s not what we’re looking at today. No, today, we’ll be looking back on the history of this team. You’ve already seen the greatest Grizzlies of all time, but this is different. The Grizzlies have been front-loaded, so this will look a little bit different than a regular all time list.

The Memphis Grizzlies’ talent might be spread differently than you think

In fact, this may not be what you’re expecting at all. This won’t simply be the best player at each position, this will be the best possible lineup with the most potential imaginable. You may expect to see somebody who won’t show up, and that’s not a knock against them, just the way the league works.

This is an attempt to build a team that could win a championship in the modern NBA. We’ll include a 6th man, but we’ll be throwing extra emphasis on shooting, floor spacing, and any other qualities that would help a team win a championship in 2021.

This team will also assume that each player is in their prime. That means that certain players who are considered Grizzlies legends but spend their prime elsewhere will still be considered for this spot. We’ll take the best season from each of these guys and that will be what we’re rolling with.
