NBA Skills Challenge: Memphis Grizzlies PG/SG De’Anthony Melton

Mr. Do Something didn’t get his nickname for no reason. De’Anthony Melton has as good of an argument as anybody for the 2nd-best playmaker spot on this team. Yes, Ja Morant is the better playmaker at the moment, but Melton is an extremely exciting young player.

Plus, Ja Morant will show up in more than one other category. So while he may be the best playmaker right now, I’m giving this honor to Melton to keep things from getting repetitive.

On extremely limited minutes this year, Melton has shown that he can be an elite playmaker. He enters the game and completely changes the energy, dishing out passes and scoring the ball at will.

He has less assists than Tyus Jones, but has a distinctly higher ceiling as a player. Even while playing limited minutes at the shooting guard position, he holds the 4th place position on this team in assists per game.
