NBA Slam Dunk Contest: Memphis Grizzlies PG Ja Morant

Yeah, it’s Ja Morant. I was trying to find a way around this, but he’s clearly the best dunker on this team. He’s one of the best dunkers in the league.

We’ve seen him do it since he arrived on Beale Street; he can throw it down at any point in the game. We’ve seen him posterize players, do put-back dunks, finish alley oops, and even throw alley oops to himself.

It all comes down to his athleticism. We’ve only seen a few guys who have the combined speed, vertical, and power at the point guard position that Ja Morant possesses. The two players that come to mind are Derrick Rose and Russell Westbrook, who are known to be the most athletic point guards ever.

Ja Morant can put his name on that list and it starts with his rim-rattling dunks. Similar to Westbrook, he attacks the rim. He doesn’t just dunk the ball, he throws it as hard as he can at the hoop.

If he doesn’t get a bid in the dunk contest at some point in his career, I’ll be shocked. For now, we can sit back and watch him go to work.
