Memphis Grizzlies prospect No. 2: Franz Wagner, Michigan Wolverines

Franz Wagner is actually a very similar prospect to Matthew Hurt. The difference here is that Wagner is playing on the basketball team at the University of Michigan, where Juwan Howard has led his team to their best season in recent memory.

Franz Wagner plays a smart game. He knows where to be and when to be there. In all likelihood, his strong positioning and above average shot selection are a big reason why he’s shooting almost 40% from 3-point range.

He’s technically a guard, but he would likely fill in at the small forward position for this team. His shooting would give an instant boost to a Grizzlies team that has been struggling from long-range as of late. He also has a strong mid-range game, which is a nice added touch.

Wagner isn’t an elite defender, but he won’t be a liability at the next level. He’s athletic enough to keep up with most NBA players and should be able to improve from that standpoint.
