Former Memphis Grizzlies players have made an impact on some teams around the league, even some that didn’t pan out in Memphis.
There have been some players that Grizzlies fans were glad to see leave, but there were definitely some that left in bitter-sweet fashion.
When you think of recent past players on the Grizz, your mind has to go straight to players like Mike Conley and Marc Gasol. They were players that made Grizzly basketball exciting, even leading the team to a franchise-record seven-straight playoff appearances from 2010-2016.
Are the Memphis Grizzlies better off without these players, or have they taken a step back to being competitive?
The Grizzlies have seen many new, young faces come in, whether it be through the NBA Draft or trade. But while new talent comes in, this means old talent must be on its way out. There is not enough room for everybody on the roster, and that’s just reality.
Without these recent drafts and trades, we wouldn’t have players on the team that make a huge impact today, including the likes of Ja Morant, Jonas Valanciunas, Jaren Jackson Jr., and quite honestly, the majority of the roster. In fact, the longest-tenured player on the roster is Dillon Brooks, who was traded on draft day to Memphis in 2017.
Memphis has seen a lot of players come and go, both seen as busts and even franchise players. But, who are some of the players that have gone that are making an impact around the league this season?
