Former Memphis Grizzlies player No. 2: Kyle Lowry, PG, Toronto Raptors

Yikes. This may have been one Grizzly fans have wanted to forget. Yes, Kyle Lowry was once a part of the Grizzlies. It’s difficult to try to not imagine what life would have been like if Kyle Lowry was a part of this team during the first half of the 2010s.

Lowry was drafted by the Grizzlies with the 24th pick in the 2006 NBA Draft. He ended up spending only two and a half seasons in Memphis before being traded to the Houston Rockets in 2009 as part of a three-team deal, including the Orlando Magic.

In Memphis, Lowry averaged decent numbers for his time given, but not enough to prove to the Grizzlies’ front office that he was worth keeping for the long haul. In Houston, Lowry showed good strides of improvement in both his scoring and passing abilities.

Despite his signs of improvement, Lowry was traded to the Toronto Raptors in the 2012 offseason.

This is where things take off for Lowry.

Kyle Lowry has spent the next nine seasons in Toronto up to this day. He is a six-time All-Star, all of his appearances being between 2014-2020. He is a league-recognized star who is still enjoying some of the best playing seasons of his career. It’s unfortunate Grizzlies fans couldn’t witness this level of play from Lowry in Memphis.
