Top 5 former Memphis Grizzlies players around the NBA this season
Former Memphis Grizzlies player No. 1: Mike Conley, PG, Utah Jazz
There is an argument that Kyle Lowry might be having a better season than Mike Conley statistically, but leading the number one team in the Western Conference while also being named an All-Star is a high level of recognition we can’t ignore.
Conley will forever be known as a legend in Memphis, and the fact that he just now got his first All-Star selection at age 33 is absurd, but Grizzly fans couldn’t be happier for him.
Mike was drafted by the Grizzlies with the fourth pick in the 2007 NBA Draft and produced immediately. Conley spent 12 seasons with the Grizzlies before being traded to the Utah Jazz in 2019.
In Memphis, Conley averaged 14.9 points, 3 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 1.4 steals, and 0.2 blocks per game. However, the stats don’t even show half of the impact Mike made in Memphis. He helped lead Memphis to a franchise-record six straight playoff appearances and brought winning, gritty, and exciting play to Memphis. Conley was also regarded as a leader both on the floor and in the locker room, and all-around a tremendous teammate.
In Utah, he is still enjoying some of the best playing days of his career and is currently leading Utah to a high seed in the Western Conference Playoffs.
There isn’t any other player currently in the NBA who is having this much success along with having such a huge impact in his time in Memphis. All this earns Conley the number one spot on this list.
