The 3 all-time best Memphis Grizzlies trades in franchise history
Memphis Grizzlies, Los Angeles Clippers: Quentin Richardson and Zach Randolph
Maybe the Grizzlies should look into more trades with teams in Los Angeles. Between the last trade and this one, the Grizzlies acquired two of the three best players in their franchise’s history.
In 2009, Zach Randolph was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for Quentin Richardson, a player who never actually wore a Grizzlies uniform. These two players were traded straight up, and the Grizzlies clearly got the better end of this deal.
Z-Bo would go on to become the best Memphis Grizzlies player of all time. You can debate that, but as far as I’m concerned, there isn’t much of an argument otherwise. He shaped this franchise into who they are today.
Between himself, Mike Conley, and Marc Gasol, this team would go on to seven consecutive playoff appearances, including a Western Conference Finals loss to a Spurs team that would eventually lose in 7 games to LeBron James and the Miami Heat.
Quentin Richardson, on the other hand, would go on to average around 5 points for the remainder of his career. You have to feel sorry for him, but the Grizzlies got more than anybody could have asked for the small forward.
