Memphis Grizzlies might be forced to trade Gorgui Dieng

This one might not be as much of an opportunity as the other guys on the list, but it’s a necessary evil. Gorgui Dieng is a solid player who came to the Grizzlies in a trade from the Minnesota Timberwolves.

If the Grizzlies want to make any sort of trades, they may have to include Dieng, who is eating up $17 million this year while riding the bench. He was part of the game plan earlier in the year, but has basically been cut from the rotation for the past month.

His contract is expiring after this season, so if there is a team with enough available cap space this year, they likely won’t shy away from him. That being said, this does limit the Grizzlies’ potential trade targets.

Hopefully, a team can come around that won’t mind eating up a contract for the remainder of the year, but for now, Dieng is holding back Memphis in that aspect.
