The Memphis Grizzlies have been good enough without their young star, Jaren Jackson Jr. But good enough isn’t going to cut it when the NBA Playoffs come around.

This team has over-performed, but still has a long way to go before they’re considered to be contenders. It’s a small market team with a really strong young core, but some distinct holes in their lineup.

As a result of this, they’ll need to make a push to bolster their roster.

The Grizz currently have a depth problem. No, they don’t have a lack of depth, but the opposite. This team has Ja Morant, Kyle Anderson, Jonas Valanciunas, and Jaren Jackson Jr. as their primary players. Everybody who wasn’t just listed is clearly a step lower, but still a strong player.

But what good does it do for Memphis to have Dillon Brooks, Gorgui Dieng, Brandon Clarke, Desmond Bane, and others on the same team if there isn’t enough room to play them all?

The Memphis Grizzlies need to trade their depth for more talent

The Grizzlies won’t be able to find success in the league with an extremely deep bench. Yes, it’s nice to have right now, but contenders don’t play that way. Any team that has won an NBA Title in recent memories has had a more distinct starting lineup.

One player that could help the Grizzlies with this is Houston Rockets guard Victor Oladipo. I’ve discussed why trading for Oladipo would be so important for Memphis, but today, we’ll look into specific trade scenarios for the 28 year-old shooting guard.

Today, I’ll be grading 3 NBA 2K21 trades for Victor Oladipo.
