With the NBA Trade Deadline coming up on March 25th, the Memphis Grizzlies should be in the market to add some more talent. This team has one of the deepest benches in the league, but the Grizzlies starters haven’t necessarily been all that great this season aside from Jonas Valanciunas.

This has led to the Grizzlies having quite the up-and-down season. They have looked like both a playoff contender and a lottery team on any given night this season. Part of this is due to the fact that the Grizzlies have struggled to make threes.

Well, in comes Atlanta Hawks wing, Kevin Huerter.

Would adding a sharpshooter like Kevin Huerter to this Memphis Grizzlies roster help boost to their playoff chances?

Kevin Huerter is most known for his ability to shoot the basketball. In reality, that is what the Grizzlies need, but he actually adds more than just shooting.

Huerter ranks among the top in the league in steals, showing his presence as a perimeter defender and ability to force takeaways at a high level. He’s fairly quick, which should help in keeping his man in front of him and making him uncomfortable — something this team needs more of.

His shooting percentages aren’t off-the-charts, but he shoots at a respectable clip at about 43% from the field, 37% from three, and 82.5% from the free-throw line. Nonetheless, he has great form and when he gets in a rhythm, he’s dangerous. His three-point percentage and free-throw percentages are also higher than the Grizzlies’ as a team, meaning he would be an upgrade in those categories.

Along with good shooting, Huerter also possesses great playmaking traits. He has shown he is able to make the right pass and has a plethora of moves to be able to create separation or get to the rim.

Due to all of Atlanta’s signings this past offseason, he’s been pushed out of the starting lineup to more of a bench role. Adding someone with the offensive potential of Kevin Huerter, especially with him only being 22, the Grizzlies would be able to continue their youth movement and not have to give up the entirety of their depth for him.

The Grizzlies have so much depth and simply just don’t know what to do with it. They still need one more star to compete with the top teams consistently. Huerter may not be a star right now, but he could certainly start on this team and help elevate this team offensively.
