Desmond Bane has hit a roadblock as part of the Memphis Grizzlies starting 5

The game against the Rockets would be his best game as a member of the starting lineup so far. In fact, despite a 20-point performance a couple of games later, he has been extremely quiet.

He has been shooting at the same volume and scoring on a bulk of his 3-pointers, but his ability to score from other areas has had cause for concern. His percentages aren’t bad, but he simply isn’t taking many shots outside of open 3-balls.

This was extremely notable in a Grizzlies blowout loss where he was unable to score a single point, missing all three of his field goal attempts. He didn’t have a single attempt inside the arch and without a strong shooting performance, he looked lost on the court.

I don’t think we should be concerned with taking him out of the lineup, but this will be a storyline to follow as the season progresses. Desmond Bane’s success correlates directly with the Grizzlies success, so if he can get going, this team should be playing good basketball.
