If somebody asked you about the most impactful players on the Memphis Grizzlies, Dillon Brooks and Justise Winslow would probably be up there.

And it seems true.

The eye test would tell you that these guys are two of the best players on the team. Winslow has made a huge impact defensively since his return from injury and Brooks has been a strong scorer all year long.

To even out the playing field, it accounts for variables like minutes per game and pace of play. This is to make sure that a role player like De’Anthony Melton, who stands at 4th in PER on the team, gets the same treatment as Ja Morant, who stands at 3rd on the team in PER.

Pace of play isn’t vitally important within the Memphis Grizzlies organization, but when you’re comparing players on different teams, it can level the playing field.
