Memphis Grizzlies: Ja Morant makes a bold claim about the NCAA Tournament
The Memphis Grizzlies are obviously not participating in March Madness — at least not in the traditional sense. With the NBA Trade Deadline approaching, the Grizzlies are a part of their own March Madness.
That said, they do have some players who have played in the competition in years past. The Memphis Grizzlies Twitter account made a recent post about the players who have been a part of the competition in their basketball careers:
You see some obvious candidates in Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr., but if you do some more research, you’ll see players like Dillon Brooks, Desmond Bane, and a handful of other guys.
Being a young team, there are plenty of recent NCAA Tournament trips that we’ll remember from this squad.
Most memorably, the Duke Blue Devils reached the tournament with 3 current Memphis Grizzlies on their roster. Justise Winslow, Tyus Jones, and Grayson Allen all played for the same team and would eventually go on to win the national championship.
How would these Memphis Grizzlies players fare in the 2021 NCAA Tournament?
Remembering past NCAA appearances from players on the Grizzlies roster makes you wonder how well these guys could have done in a hectic 2021 NCAA Tournament.
In fact, Ja Morant was doing the same thing. During the NCAA Tournament on Sunday, Morant had this to say about the NCAA Tournament:

As you can see, Ja Morant has been watching the NCAA Tournament. He is, of course, referring to the fact that this year’s tournament has featured a large amount of highly-seeded teams losing early in the competition.
Morant guided his Murray State team to a conference win and a 26-4 regular season record in the 2018-19 season, but couldn’t get his team very far in a tougher year of March Madness. His team came into the tournament as a 12 seed and actually upset Marquette in the first round by a wide margin, 83-64.
They’d be destroyed in the next round by Florida State, but still hold on to their memorable first round win.
In all likelihood, Morant’s team could have made some more noise in the tournament this year, as powerful teams have been falling to mid-majors every single day.
