Staff score predictions for Memphis Grizzlies vs. Boston Celtics
The Memphis Grizzlies are coming off of a confidence-building win against the Golden State Warriors. They’ll be disappointed to split the series while Stephen Curry has been out, but it’s a net-positive situation for the Grizz.
They’ll continue their home stretch against the Boston Celtics, a team that has had a similar season as Memphis in their own respect. Boston currently sits in the 6th position in the Eastern Conference playoff race.
The Celtics won’t be playing their star point guard in Kemba Walker, but are still a tough team with Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.
The Grizzlies will look to capitalize on their pickpocketing abilities to slow down a star-studded Celtics roster. If they can create turnovers and make defensive stops, it’ll be a good day for the Grizzlies in FedEx Forum.
Another key to the game will be the performance of Ja Morant. Despite consistent games from Jonas Valanciunas, Morant Grizzlies has struggled to find consistency. If we get the good version of Morant on Monday night, the Grizzlies can win this game.
Will the Memphis Grizzlies be able to win their 2nd straight? Our staff weighs in.
Jack Williams: The Memphis Grizzlies have had a rollercoaster season, exemplified in a series against an injury-riddled Golden State Warriors team. They’ll look to bring this confidence into a game against the Boston Celtics and I think we’ll see that show up in the game itself. The Grizzlies will get back to .500 with a good win over a solid team on the back of a strong game from Ja Morant.
Final Score: Memphis Grizzlies 107, Boston Celtics 105
Caleb Anglin: Although the Grizzlies come into the game against Boston as the NBA leader in steals, that doesn’t mean that is enough to stop the duo of Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum. I believe the Grizzlies will put up a good effort and stay with the Celtics until the middle of the fourth quarter where the Celtics will catch fire, unfortunately resulting in a Grizzlies loss.
Final Score: Memphis Grizzlies 98, Boston Celtics 111
Brandon Martinez: The Grizzlies face the task of trying to beat a team in the same boat as them: fighting for a spot in the playoffs. The Celtics will be missing Kemba Walker which could be a huge plus for the Grizzlies backcourt. However, this team still has some starpower, so it will be a tough win regardless.
Final Score: Memphis Grizzlies 109, Boston Celtics 105
Taylor Goebel: Led by Jayson Tatum, the 6-seeded Celtics are currently 6-4 in their last 10 games and are underperforming based on how they played the past few years. The team just recently held a team meeting to discuss their disappointing season thus far. I think the Grizzlies are going to take advantage of the state the Celtics are currently in, and take home the win Monday night.
Final Score: Memphis Grizzlies 116, Boston Celtics 108
