How did Memphis Grizzlies G Tyus Jones perform for Duke Basketball?

The last Memphis Grizzlies player that was on the 2014-15 Duke Blue Devils basketball roster is Tyus Jones. Of the three players listed so far, he was the highest-ranked player out of high school in that recruiting class.

He was a 5-star recruit, the 8th-ranked player in his class and another McDonald’s All-American. He would actually go on to win the skills challenge.

Like Winslow, Jones would receive instant playing time as a Duke Blue Devil. In his first game, he scored 15 points with 7 assists in just 23 minutes played. It was clear that the hype was real behind this big-time recruit.

He’d play consistently well all year, tallying 11.8 points, 5.6 assists, and 1.5 steals per game as a freshman. Thought the numbers seem relatively modest, he was a huge contributor for the best team in college basketball that season.

It would show in the NCAA Tournament.

He’d increase his average, putting up 13 points per match and over a steal and a half per game in the big dance. He’d cap this off with an incredible National Championship game.

Jones would have a quiet first half, but would take over in the second, scoring over half of Duke’s second-half points against Wisconsin. He would go on to win NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player, cementing his name in Duke History.
