For the first time all season, the Memphis Grizzlies looked like they were clicking. It wasn’t just a dominant night from Ja Morant or Jonas Valanciunas, it was a strong night from every single player on this team.

The final score gave the Grizzlies a 116-107 edge over the Oklahoma City Thunder, but those who watched the game are aware that it was a dominant victory for the boys in blue.

Despite the final margin being just nine points, this game was all Grizzlies in the second half. If not for some uncharacteristically bad turnovers at the beginning of the game, this could have easily been a 30+ point win for Memphis.

Ja Morant played a strong game for the Memphis Grizzlies despite a low scoring output

The first player that I’m going to focus on is Ja Morant. At a quick glance, his stat line in Wednesday night’s game didn’t look very impressive. In fact, if you look at his normal statistics, you’d think he had a relatively bad game. 11 points, 7 assists, and 3 turnovers.

But much like the final score of this game, Ja Morant’s initial stat line doesn’t tell the full story.

When you take a deeper dive, you see that Morant also had a pair of blocks and a pair of steals on the night. He was a force on the defensive end, which is a part of his game that can often be forgotten about.

Morant reminded us why he’s such an important part of this team, even on bad offensive nights.
