What we learned about the Memphis Grizzlies from the NBA Trade Deadline

Memphis Grizzlies cap space and long-term thinking
Overall, the Memphis Grizzlies locked in when it came to making sure they were in the right headspace. When trade rumors surfaced, involving DeMar DeRozan‘s name possibly being involved with the Grizzlies, many shook their heads… no.
With him being the obvious transcendent player, general manager Zach Kleiman and owner Robert J. Pera knew big money was going to have to be involved. That wasn’t something that the Grizzlies were interesting in paying out.
The San Antonio Spurs were not giving this guy up for coins, as they were interested to see what the Grizzlies had to offer from a block-buster scenario. Kleiman felt it was unnecessary and thought about what was being established in the “now,” considering the emergence and dominating presence of Ja Morant.
In the end, all worked out for what it stands as.
Justise Winslow was signed just last year and former star center Marc Gasol was traded from the team not too long ago, finding himself as a role player for the Los Angeles Lakers in present day. These two deals played big parts in how this team has maneuvered during the trade deadline and it showed greatly.
