The Memphis Grizzlies cannot be upset with the results that they saw against the Utah Jazz in their first away game. Against the best team in the NBA, Ja Morant and his supporting cast nearly mounted their best comeback of the season.

Dillon Brooks‘ game-tying 3-pointer missed but not by much. The Grizzlies were likely less than an inch away from taking this tough Jazz team to overtime.

It’s the same thing that we’ve been seeing all season — the Grizzlies might look bad against lesser teams but they know how to show up against elite NBA talent.

That said, this will go down as an L in the win-loss column, so the Grizzlies will see what they can do to steal a win in Saturday’s game.

Will the Memphis Grizzlies be able to steal a game against the Utah Jazz? Our contributors weigh in.

Jack Williams (Site Expert): The Grizzlies showed that they would not be pushed around by the Utah Jazz on Friday night. Despite an early deficit, they continued to hang around until a late fourth-quarter push for the lead. They lost but showed that they can compete with this Jazz team. I think they’ll continue this energy into the second game of the series, and on the back of another strong Ja Morant game, they’ll come home with a win.

Final Score: Memphis Grizzlies 113, Utah Jazz 108

Taylor Goebel: The Jazz still own the best record in the NBA and the 2nd best 3-point shooting percentage in the league. They’re also the best in the business in field goals. The Jazz are still looking to keep their home winning record going and look to extend it to 19 now. The offensive firepower the Jazz have is just going to be too much to handle and the Grizzlies will again fall to the Jazz.

Final Score: Memphis Grizzlies 116, Utah Jazz 124

Caleb Anglin: This should be another strong outing for Memphis. They lost 117-114 last night, with Ja Morant and Valanciunas both having double-doubles. Although they put up a great fight against the #1 seed in the West, I believe they will lose in Utah in back-to-back games. This game not being as close. Morant and Valanciunas will still do what they do best and play great basketball, but the rest of the squad will not be able to do enough.

Final Score: Memphis Grizzlies 96, Utah Jazz 108
