Memphis Grizzlies: Grading Ja Morant’s 2020-21 season thus far
In just his second season in the league, Ja Morant has already established himself as a franchise player for the Memphis Grizzlies. He’s been the best player on the team throughout his time on Beale Street and that won’t change anytime soon.
Now that we’re deep into his sophomore campaign, it’s a great time to look back on how he has performed this season.
Overall, it’s been a great journey for the explosive point guard. Despite missing his co-star for most of the 2020-21 season, he has his team in a position to make the Playoffs. There’s still a long way to go, but he has improved in almost every facet of the game.
Ja Morant’s Achilles heel has been inconsistency so far in 2021
As previously mentioned, Morant has had a really strong second year in the NBA. He has continued to improve as a passer, scorer, and leader of this Grizzlies team. That said, he has had a very distinct Achilles heel thus far.
The young guard hasn’t been able to develop any sort of consistency as the season progresses. While we’ve seen him have incredible games, dropping over 30 points and double-digit assists, these are far and few.
Generally speaking, we’ll get one of those games for every two quiet performances where he’s not even the leading scorer on the team.
Fortunately, this is something that can and will be fixed over time. Once he matures as a player, he’ll be able to find a way to put it all together night in and night out. That said, we’ll continue to see growing pains as this season progresses.
Enough with the negatives though, let’s take a look at specific parts of his game.
