The Memphis Grizzlies need to hold onto the ball against the Utah Jazz

This Memphis Grizzlies make a lot of rookie mistakes, but they’re not a team that turns the ball over excessively. In fact, they sit at the 11th spot in fewest turnovers per game and first in steals per game.

This is a Grizzlies team that knows how to take care of possession. That said, we’ve seen horrible stretches from this team where it looks like they’re trying to give the ball away.

The most recent game against the Jazz was one of those performances. While they held onto the ball for most of the game, they finished with 15 turnovers thanks to a couple of ugly stretches by this team that led to their deficit.

In the first game, on the other hand, the Grizzlies only gave the ball away 7 times. During their second-half comeback, they held onto the ball like their lives depended on it and it paid off. If the Grizz want a win, this has to be a point of emphasis.

The Grizzlies beat the Jazz in turnover differential in both matchups, so this won’t be a difficult thing to accomplish. That said, this team has to make this as wide as possible.

Taylor Jenkins’ team is very talented at swiping the ball away from their opponents, so if they can hold onto the ball and create turnovers, they’ll have a good opportunity to capitalize on.
