3 takeaways from Memphis Grizzlies’ three-game series with Utah Jazz
Memphis Grizzlies SG Grayson Allen might be more important than we thought
This may have only been a thought that crossed my mind, but I’m sure there are others out there who resonate with this line of thinking. Grayson Allen might be one of the more important players on this team.
Just a few weeks ago, I wrote an article questioning whether or not the former Duke Blue Devil should even be in the starting lineup. Today, I sit here with a completely different perspective.
In fact, this Grizzlies team without Allen in the lineup looked definitively worse. Desmond Bane has been a great rookie, but we learned quickly that is not ready to start for this team. In 33 minutes, he shot 3-10 with 7 points, missing his single attempt from long range.
You have to believe that the Grizzlies would have won this game if Allen were to be healthy. Even though Bane is one of the best shooters on this team, he’s not mature enough to have the consistency of Grayson Allen.
De’Anthony Melton is in the same boat. A strong contributor off of the bench, but doesn’t have a well-rounded game like Grayson Allen. Hopefully, Allen will return from his hip injury in the next game and help the Grizzlies get back on track.
