The Memphis Grizzlies will have to hold onto the basketball

The Memphis Grizzlies are the best team in the league at creating turnovers. They’re first in the league in steals and they hold that spot by a pretty wide margin. They’re also solid at holding onto the ball, finding themselves in the top ten in ball security.

That said, they’ve been susceptible at times to cold stretches where the ball constantly finds its way into opposing players’ hands. This is something that will not suffice on Friday night.

The Timberwolves aren’t great in very many statistical categories, but they are good at stealing the basketball. They rank a couple of spots below the Grizzlies in this category at the third spot in the league.

Minnesota is led in steals by Ricky Rubio, who averages 1.4 steals per match. Despite an overall strong game last time out, Ja Morant turned the ball over five times. If the Grizzlies want to better their chances of a win, Morant

will have to hold onto the ball. His ability to avoid turnovers could have a ripple effect that helps the entire team.
