Memphis Grizzlies unsung hero No. 1: Grayson Allen

Grayson Allen has been an interesting player so far for the Memphis Grizzlies. Many fans believed that he had already hit a ceiling as a player, but he has proven those doubters wrong. Despite not having much of a name in national media, Allen has been one of the best players on this team.

Allen is in the starting lineup but receives the least respect out of any other player who begins the game out on the court. In all likelihood, this comes as a result of the fact that he has been extremely streaky in a Grizz uniform.

Grizzlies fans have seen a handful of games where Allen shoots lights out in the first quarter and disappears as the game continues. But that hasn’t been the case since the All-Star break.

Excluding a game that he left early after an awkward fall, Allen is scoring13 points per game, 3 points higher than his season average. Oh yeah, and that season average of 10 points is the highest of his career.

He has done this by showcasing elite shooting throughout the season. At 42% from 3-point range, he has hit the highest long-range shooting clip of his career. He’s also knocking down over 90% of his free throws, bringing consistency to the charity stripe for Memphis.
