The Memphis Grizzlies moved a game above .500 with a win against the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday night. After this huge win, most fans expected them to take a loss against the Miami Heat on Tuesday. Outside of a 7-game win streak early in the year, the Grizz have been unable to win multiple games in a row.

But Tuesday night was an exception to this trend.

The Memphis Grizzlies flew down to Miami and dominated the Heat in a tough road matchup. But that wasn’t the challenge for this game. The largest challenge was a personnel issue. The Grizzlies were playing without Jaren Jackson Jr., Brandon Clarke, Justise Winslow, and De’Anthony Melton, all huge players in this team’s rotation.

The Memphis Grizzlies put their depth on display in a big win against the Heat

It was unclear how well they would perform in the absence of these key performers. That said, their depth was on full display against the Heat.

In fact, the top performers of this team didn’t play as well as you may expect. Ja Morant had another quiet game, scoring only 10 points and giving the ball away 7 times. He would leave with lower back tightness at the very end of the contest. Jonas Valanciunas kept his double-double streak alive but didn’t do anything special.

Overall, it was the options beyond the normal three of Morant, Valanciunas, and Jackson that were forced to step up. And unlike some nights, these guys didn’t just keep the team afloat, they dominated a game against a tough Eastern Conference opponent.

Here are player grades for the top performers against the Miami Heat on Tuesday night.
