Memphis Grizzlies: 3 wing prospects to target in 2021 NBA Draft
Memphis Grizzlies NBA Draft Prospect: Moses Moody
I could copy and paste the previous analysis of Franz Wagner into this slide and you’d hardly be able to tell the difference. Much like Wagner, Moses Moody is a strong shooter at the wing who was an elite defender at the college level.
While he doesn’t have the height of Wagner, Moody stands at 6’6″ with a jaw-dropping 7-foot wingspan. He’s not the most explosive athlete you’ve ever seen, but he knows how to use the gifts that he was born with.
For every positive physical attribute he holds, he has a mental and emotional upside to match it. He’s an extremely mature player with a boatload of aggressiveness on the defensive end. His statistics were relatively modest with a steal and 0.7 blocks per contest, but he can clamp up anybody who comes up against him.
Most importantly though, his size allows him to have the capability of guarding any position on the court. At the NBA level, he may struggle to guard pure centers, but he has enough size to hold his own against anybody under 7-foot. He’s similar to Kyle Anderson in this way.
Having said all of this, he’s an extremely strong attacker on the offensive end. He shot at a high volume this season, taking six 3-point shots per contest, draining 36% of his long-range buckets. He’s not an elite shooter, but he’s good enough to knock down open opportunities.
He would finish his only season with the Arkansas Razorbacks averaging 16.8 points, leading the team in scoring. At just 18 years old, he’d be a project for the Memphis Grizzlies, but he may be a player worth taking a gamble on.
