The Memphis Grizzlies have a long list of players who can have a strong game on any given night. That said, it’s no surprise when you see a guy like Grayson Allen have a huge game, especially while the rest of the team is winded from two games in the past three days.

But Allen didn’t just have a strong game, he put the team on his back on Wednesday night.

Despite the fact that we have not seen a game like this out of Allen in the past, his scoring explosion felt extremely familiar to a Grizzlies team that has one of the deepest rosters in the league.

The Memphis Grizzlies have gotten elite play out of their sixth-best player

If someone were to ask you who the best players on the Grizzlies were, you’d probably start out with Ja Morant. After that? Jaren Jackson Jr. Then Jonas Valanciunas. I’d have to keep going for quite a while before I got to the name Grayson Allen.

Point is, Allen is probably the 6th best player on the team. Before the All-Star break, this very blog was even talking about whether or not he deserves to be in the starting lineup.

Thankfully, Taylor Jenkins must not be a Beale Street Bears reader. Otherwise, Memphis would have been missing out on Allen’s mid-season explosion.

Most recently, Grayson Allen dropped 30 points in a game against the Atlanta Hawks, helping guide his team to a blowout win. The Grizz would bring their winning streak to four games and they’re beginning to look like one of the stronger teams in the Western Conference, even without JJJ in the lineup.
