The Memphis Grizzlies have one of the most electrifying players in the league in Ja Morant. Whether or not he has a good game, you can count on at least a few eye-popping plays from the 21-year old.

His speed and explosiveness allows him to make plays that only a limited number of human beings can make. Even beyond that, he is a skilled passer who can make highlights with trick plays that lead to his teammates scoring.

Monday night will be remembered for a freak-athlete type of play.

Morant has been compared to players like Derrick Rose and Russell Westbrook, with a combination of speed, quickness, and jumping ability. On Monday night, he would get a chance to show this off against the Chicago Bulls.

He finished multiple alley-oops on the night, but one of them stood above the rest.

Ja Morant’s alley-oop finish brought energy to the court for the Memphis Grizzlies

Just after halftime, the Grizzlies were trailing the Chicago Bulls. They would need a boost, and Morant would bring that to them.

The Grizzlies would get the ball in transition with Grayson Allen handling the ball. Morant was nowhere to be seen at the beginning of the play but was quickly spotted hauling down the court toward the bucket.

Just when Allen looked like he would be unable to convert a 2-on-1, Morant flew into the picture. Allen would throw up a lob that was placed slightly behind Morant. But that wasn’t a problem for the point guard. Morant reached back and threw down a powerful tomahawk slam.

This is the type of alley-oop slam that you see a few times per year in the NBA. Grizzlies fans are lucky enough to get at least one out of Ja Morant every couple of weeks.

As the NBA Playoffs approach, Morant will only have a few more opportunities to soar through the air, so we’ll hope to see more of this out of him before the regular season comes to an end. For now, we can appreciate the fact that we have the option to watch a young player with as much athleticism as the Grizzlies’ guard.
