The Memphis Grizzlies will not have a high-profile pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. That said, there aren’t a handful of high-profile players in this year’s draft. Memphis will have a chance to pick up a couple of players, but things could get confusing.

There isn’t a single distinctive position that the Grizzlies will be drafting in 2021.

This Memphis roster is young but doesn’t have many holes in it. From point guard to center, Taylor Jenkins has a starting-caliber player or a player who has the potential to become a star at every position. This comes as a result of the fact that Memphis has done an excellent job accumulating young talent via trades and past draft classes.

The Memphis Grizzlies have some areas of weakness to address in 2021

But while the Grizzlies don’t have a specific position that they’ll be targeting in the upcoming draft, there are a few areas of improvement that they may want to work on.

One of the areas that this team needs to find some improvement is scoring. The Grizzlies aren’t bad at putting the ball in the bucket, but there is plenty of room for improvement on the 2nd-youngest team in the league.

Defensively, the Grizzlies have been lackluster this year too. That said, they’ve been playing without their best defender in Jaren Jackson Jr., so this is an area that they are poised to improve upon after his late April return.

That said, Taylor Jenkins has done a great job with this roster and has put the Grizzlies into a winning position, so the draft will be pretty wide open for a team that is still contending for an NBA Playoff spot.

Here’s why Duke Basketball’s Matthew Hurt could be the perfect prospect for a team in this position.
