The Memphis Grizzlies are having an extremely strong season, all things considered. Taylor Jenkins has to be pleased with how his team has played throughout 2021.
In mid-April, his team is fighting with the Dallas Mavericks, Portland Trail Blazers, and Los Angeles Lakers for the 6th seed in the Western Conference. This is well beyond the preseason expectation for Memphis, so they’ll look to continue to ride this momentum.
That said, the Grizzlies have a tough road ahead, with a handful of skilled opponents remaining on the schedule.
Here’s a breakdown of the most important remaining games for the Memphis Grizzlies.
No. 3: Memphis Grizzlies at Portland Trail Blazers
In less than two weeks, the Memphis Grizzlies will begin an extremely important 3-game series against the Portland Trail Blazers. I know this article says important games, but this entire series will be huge.
Last season, the Grizzlies were knocked out of playoff contention by the Trail Blazers in their play-in game, so they’ll look to get revenge against Damian Lillard and company this season. The Grizzlies are currently outmatched, but they’ve been punching up all year long.
The Blazers are currently in the 6th spot in the Western Conference, which marks the position that the Grizzlies will be trying to attain. After four more games for Memphis, this one could have huge implications down the road.
Whoever wins the majority of the games in this series will hold the advantage in the case that a tiebreaker is used. This series will go a long way for both teams’ NBA Playoff chances.
