The Memphis Grizzlies took care of the Chicago Bulls with relative ease on Friday night. They’d win the game with a final score of 126-115. This gets them off to a good start on their 7-game road trip, the longest in Grizzlies history.

The final score tells the whole story — a game that the Grizzlies dominated but struggled to put away.

Without Zach Lavine, the Bulls didn’t stand much of a chance and it showed. The team from the Windy City simply couldn’t keep up with the Grizzlies’ scoring.

The Grizzlies found a bulk of their scoring from the bench, with the backups scoring 46 points with 11 assists on the night. That said, there was one starter who rose above the rest in Chicago on Friday night.

Memphis Grizzlies F Dillon Brooks had his best game of the season

Dillon Brooks is such an interesting player. On any given night, he can have an explosive scoring performance, while on other nights, he’ll disappear into the bottom of the stat sheet.

On Friday night, Grizzlies fans got to watch the good version of Dillon Brooks. Actually, good was an understatement. Dillon Brooks had his best game of the season and one of the best of his career. When he plays like this, he’s unstoppable.

Specifically, Brooks scored 32 points in a contest against the Bulls. He had an extremely efficient outing, knocking down 12 of his 19 shots, going 4-7 from the 3-point line. The former Oregon Duck only had a single turnover and made up for it with a steal.

He was helped out by an explosive third quarter that put the Grizzlies out of reach of the Bulls. In this third, Brooks scored 15 points, making this his second-best third quarter of the year.

If the Grizzlies want to make a run at the coveted 6-seed, they’ll need strong play consistently from DB, who has been hitting his stride recently before Jaren Jackson Jr.’s return. They’ll also need to beat the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday, a team that they almost upset in these two teams’ previous encounter.

Brooks has been another positive surprise for this Grizzlies team that has been desperately looking for production in Jackson Jr.’s absence.
