Memphis Grizzlies: Grayson Allen sets career-high in 3-pointers made
The Memphis Grizzlies have been playing their best offensive basketball in recent memory. In April so far, they’re among the top three teams in the NBA in terms of 3-point shooting percentage, a category that they struggled with earlier in the year.
Lately, those struggles have completely disappeared.
The Grizzlies have been shooting lights out from deep, with every player on the roster shooting at an improved clip. This includes Ja Morant, Kyle Anderson, and a handful of other players.
Most notably though, Grayson Allen has been locking in from long-range. When the ball leaves his hands, it feels like an automatic score.
Memphis Grizzlies G Grayson Allen has been an elite shooter lately
Grayson Allen averages just 10.9 points per game. After a pair of missed free throws that led to a last-second shot from Luka Doncic, Allen was one of the more unpopular players on this team. He would bounce back in a big way.
Allen has been playing some of the best basketball of his career, scoring a season-high 30 points last week while tying his career-high six 3-pointers made. On Saturday, he broke that record, knocking down seven 3-point shots against a tough Milwaukee Bucks team.
This would add up to 26 points in the game, making it one of his best games of the year. From long-range, he converted on 7-10 shots. If it wasn’t his best game of the year, it was his most efficient game.
Most importantly though — when Allen has a good game, the Grizzlies almost always win. You can find a couple of strong examples of this by taking a look back on his previous standout performances for Memphis.
The Grizzlies won handily against the Bucks when he dropped 26. The Grizzlies recently won by 18 points against the Atlanta Hawks with a 30-point game from Allen. They won a pair of games by a wide margin against the Oklahoma City Thunder when he scored over 20 points.
If Allen can continue to play at this level, the Grizzlies will be in good shape as the NBA Playoffs approach. Pair this with the fact that Jaren Jackson Jr. will return, bringing improved long-range shooting to the starting lineup, and the future looks bright.
