On Saturday, the Memphis Grizzlies secured a convincing win against one of the better teams in the NBA in the Milwaukee Bucks. There were no injuries to the opposing team and no fluke-shooting nights — Memphis simply outplayed the Bucks.
They’ll look to build off of this momentum in an away game against the Denver Nuggets on Monday night. The Grizzlies lost a heartbreaker against Denver in these teams’ only previous contest against one another.
After questionable officiating at the end of the game left a sour taste in Grizzlies fans’ mouths, this team will look to get its payback in Denver.
Can the Memphis Grizzlies even the series against the Nuggets? Our contributors weigh in.
Jack Williams (Site Expert): The Grizzlies played a tight game against the Denver Nuggets in these teams’ only previous matchup this year and lost. That said, they were in a position to win, but a no-call on Morant where a referee actually signaled a foul would result in a Grizzlies loss. I think Memphis remembers this and will bring a new level of energy to the game. Expect Ja’s revenge against the Nuggets to come in a big way on the score sheet.
Thomas Welch: The Grizzlies will continue their road trip with a game in Denver vs. the Nuggets. Coming off of a great win over the Milwaukee Bucks, the Grizzlies seem poised for more success, as they need to be. As the playoffs get closer and closer, they need all the quality wins they can get. However, Denver has been playing pretty well, they’ll have slightly fresher legs and they’re coming off of a much easier win (over the Houston Rockets), so I think they get the edge in this one.
Final Score: Memphis Grizzlies 108, Denver Nuggets 112
Caleb Anglin: The Grizzlies head to Denver for a big-time matchup against the 4th seed Denver Nuggets. The Grizzlies lost their last matchup against the Nuggets, 103-102. Memphis is currently on a 2-game winning streak and they need to keep winning as they are only a game above the Golden State Warriors. I think with Jamal Murray being out, even though he was not a big factor in their last matchup, the Grizzlies will be able to win this game. I’m predicting Dillon Brooks will drop 30 and keep it rolling for the Grizzlies.
Final Score: Memphis Grizzlies 112, Denver Nuggets 105
