Memphis Grizzlies: 3 takeaways from Jaren Jackson Jr.’s debut
Memphis Grizzlies F Jaren Jackson Jr. had an underrated game offensively
I get the feeling that Jaren Jackson Jr.’s offense from this game will go under the radar. It’s important to note that he scored 15 points in just 18 minutes out on the floor. Those are the most efficient scoring numbers on the team.
That said, his shot didn’t look great in his debut, only making a single 3-pointer out of four attempts. Even the one that went in bounced off of the rim and the top of the backboard before it found the bottom of the net.
That said, he looked extremely comfortable out on the floor. This wasn’t just something that was seen on the offensive end either, as he didn’t look like he was moving around gingerly at all on his knee on either end of the court.
Offensively, he had just as much spring as he did before the injury. We saw this on a couple of occasions where he drove to the basket, finishing in the paint with a dunk. It was refreshing after missing out on JJJ dunks for over half of a year.
Hopefully, his shooting will improve, as this was a key part of the Grizzlies’ success in 2019. His 39% 3-point shooting could help a Memphis team that generally struggles from deep.
