Memphis Grizzlies F Justise Winslow might never see his expected minutes

This is a really strange case of a player losing minutes since Justise Winslow never really built his way up into the role that was expected of him.

Winslow has been a high-volume player for the entirety of his career, averaging 27.9 minutes per contest since entering the league. That includes multiple seasons at 32 minutes per game or higher and zero seasons under 24 minutes per game. Until now.

With the Memphis Grizzlies, Justise Winslow has only been playing about 20 minutes per contest. A lot of this can be attributed to the fact that they were weaning him into his role before he would sustain another injury, so it’s still unclear what his role is on this team.

That said, he may be sent back a step before he gets started.

Half of the excitement of his presence in Memphis was the idea that he could help will in for JJJ. He was a big-bodied player who could play extremely strong defense at the power forward spot. That said, he would never really do this.

In fact, he has only played in 18 games for the Grizzlies and hasn’t looked entirely comfortable out on the floor. With Jackson Jr.’s return, the minutes he was supposed to receive are going to be tossed into the fire.

He can still be an impactful player, but may not reach the volume of playing time that he is accustomed to.
