The Memphis Grizzlies could surge to an undefeated finish
The Memphis Grizzlies entered the most brutal road trip in franchise history with a chip on their shoulder. Even though they could have done better, the Grizzlies won’t find any complaints as they come out of their road trip with a 4-3 record.
This sits them in the 8th seed with a 31-29 record and a couple of tough teams breathing down their neck as the end of the season approaches.
But among the mayhem, the Grizzlies have an extremely easy schedule ahead of them for the next ten games.
The Memphis Grizzlies could realistically go 10-0 in the next few weeks
Even though the Memphis Grizzlies have some skilled teams competing for a spot in the NBA Playoffs, they may have a better chance than anybody to earn the coveted 6-seed in this year’s Western Conference Standings. Here’s why.
For starters, the Grizzlies have an extremely talented roster. They have positioned themselves into the 8-seed thus far without help from Jaren Jackson Jr., their second-best player. Well, he’s back, and the Grizzlies have their easiest stretch of basketball of the season coming up.
Here are the Grizzlies’ upcoming opponents to finish out the season.
- Portland Trail Blazers (32-28)
- Orlando Magic (18-43)

- New York Knicks (34-28)
- @ Minnesota Timberwolves (18-44)
- @ Detroit Pistons (19-43)
- New Orleans Pelicans (27-34)
- Dallas Mavericks (33-27)
- Sacramento Kings (25-36)
- Sacramento Kings (25-36)
- Golden State Warriors (31-30)
Obviously, predicting the Memphis Grizzlies to win out would be ill-informed. It probably won’t happen. That said, there isn’t a team on that list that the Grizzlies shouldn’t at least take to the last second of the game.
To break it down further, the Grizzlies only play four games with a record over .500 in their remaining 12 games. Put together, those teams are only a cumulative 17 games over a .500 record. There isn’t a single opponent that isn’t within reach for Memphis.
But they’ve still got a lot of work to do. Just because they’re playing inferior opponents does not mean that the end of the season will be a cakewalk. That said, the 6-seed will be theirs for the taking. If they can’t get it done with their remaining schedule, this may not be their year.
It isn’t out of the realm of possibilities for the Grizzlies to finish the year undefeated. But with opponents like the Blazers, Knicks, Mavericks, and Warriors, a 10-2 or 9-3 finish should be a more realistic goal.
