The Memphis Grizzlies will be facing the Portland Trail Blazers for the third time this season on Wednesday night. After two straight wins against this same Blazers team, Memphis has to be riding some confidence going into the night.

That said, the Blazers are an extremely tough opponent. Despite a recent late-season skid, they will bring the same tough attitude that they have in each of the prior two matchups.

This game will be extremely important as the Grizzlies head toward the NBA Playoffs in a crowded middle-tier of the Western Conference. If they can beat the Trail Blazers, they’ll be a step closer to securing a 6-seed, which would get them into the NBA Playoffs for the first time since the Mike ConleyMarc Gasol era.

Can the Memphis Grizzlies sweep the season series? Our contributors weigh in.

Jack Williams (Site Expert): The Memphis Grizzlies have owned the Portland Trail Blazers thus far in 2021. That said, the Blazers will be playing with a chip on their shoulder after dropping the first two against Memphis. Expect this game to come down to the wire. After an awful performance on Monday night by the Grizz, I think they’ll be playing with newfound energy, beating the Trail Blazers for the third straight game. Expect a strong game from Ja Morant, who has found some consistency down the stretch.

Final Score: Memphis Grizzlies 121, Portland Trail Blazers 120

Justin Churchill: The Grizzlies and Blazers are meeting for the third time in their last four games. With the Grizzlies winning the last two meetings between these two, Memphis should have a fresh mind on how the Blazers will try to play them. After a crushing loss to Denver on Monday, the Grizzlies will look to bounce back with a big win over Portland, helping them even more in the standings.

Final Score: Memphis Grizzlies 124, Portland Trail Blazers 113

Taylor Goebel: The Grizzlies host Portland on Wednesday and will look to keep pushing their way up the standings. Currently only one game back from the Trail Blazers for the 7-seed in the Western Conference, Memphis is hoping to end their season on a high note. Containing Blazer guard duo Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum will be the key to winning Wednesday night’s game. With Jaren Jackson Jr. back in the lineup and averaging 16 PPG currently, his presence has helped the Memphis offense immensely since his return. I think JJJ and the Grizzlies get the best of Portland and take home the win.

Final Score: Memphis Grizzlies 126, Portland Trail Blazers 113
