Memphis Grizzlies: Contributor score predictions for game 4 vs. Jazz
The Memphis Grizzlies will take on the Utah Jazz after suffering two straight losses, one away from home and one in FedEx Forum. At this point in the series, game 4 has turned into a must-win for a Grizzlies team that now finds themselves behind in the series.
Thankfully for the Grizz, they haven’t been receiving complete beatings from the Utah Jazz, as each loss has come in a relatively close game. Both contests saw a close fourth quarter before a suspicious uptick in foul calls led to Utah pulling away.
The officiating has been bad. Today, I ran into three Utah Jazz fans in public. Upon learning that I was a Grizzlies fan, they immediately apologized and said that they thought the officiating was complete garbage in the past game. It’s been that bad.
That said, in game 4, the Grizzlies will have to press through the tight officiating. At some point in the series, you have to accept the fact that the NBA’s officiating will always favor the larger-market team.
That said, Memphis will have another chance to take down the Jazz at home in a pivotal game 4 matchup. The Grizz will look to even the series at 2-2.
Can the Memphis Grizzlies bounce back from a 2-game skid? Our contributors weigh in.
Jack Williams (Site Expert): The Grizzlies have every opportunity to win this game. They’ve been within reach for the last two but haven’t been able to put it all together when the game is on the line. I want to think that they’ll get the win, but at some point, there are too many factors stacked against them. Talent (for now), experience, officiating, etc. I think the Grizzlies will lose a close one, putting up another good fight.
Final Score: Memphis Grizzlies 123, Utah Jazz 132
Taylor Goebel: Game 4 of the first round between the Grizzlies and Jazz will be in Memphis once again. Hoping to keep the series tied at two games apiece a win Monday night is extremely crucial. Memphis will need to win otherwise I think the series will end with the Jazz winning 4-1. I just don’t see Memphis getting the momentum going if they don’t take home a win Monday. Dillon Brooks has been excellent thus and will need another strong game backed by good performances by Ja Morant and Jonas Valanciunas. As well as the Jazz have been playing the past two games with Donovan Mitchell back in the lineup I think the Jazz are likely to take a 3-1 lead.
Final Score: Memphis Grizzlies 113, Utah Jazz 122
