Memphis Grizzlies G Dillon Brooks took huge, subtle strides offensively in 2021

Dillon Brooks won’t win any offensive awards, but the steps he took on the offensive end in 2021 should not go overlooked. Up until the past couple of years, Brooks was a so-so offensive player. He could score if he needed to but was relatively unwilling.

Fast forward to 2021 and Brooks has become an alpha dog on offense. When the team needs a boost, he is capable of completely taking over the game. We’ve seen him explode in 3rd quarters time and time again, with opposing teams unable to stop him.

That, primarily, is the step he has taken. Consistency.

He quickly became the second scoring option on this team behind Ja Morant, and when it came time to step up in the playoffs, he did just that. He’d score 25.8 points per game, second-most on the team.

In fact, if not for Ja Morant’s 30.2 PPG in the playoffs, Dillon Brooks’ 25.8 PPG would have been a new franchise playoff record. The best part? Brooks is only 25 years old.

But his real bread and butter are on the defensive end.
