Memphis Grizzlies: Watch Ja Morant’s offseason dunk showcase (video)
The Memphis Grizzlies‘ season came to a crushing end with a 4-1 series loss to the Utah Jazz. That said, Ja Morant made sure things were exciting during their eventual downfall, creating highlight plays all over the court.
It’s one of the things that Ja Morant has consistently brought to Beale Street in his two years as the team’s point guard. When all else fails, Ja Morant puts on a show.
And while he is a human highlight reel, Morant didn’t just put together a mixtape in the playoffs, he led the team in points and assists. The young point guard was one of the only reasons that the Grizzlies kept the series competitive against a Jazz team that could be considered the best in the league.
Memphis Grizzlies PG Ja Morant is keeping up with his highlight quota in the offseason
Even though the Grizzlies’ season came to an end, Ja Morant’s highlight reel is still going. On Tuesday, the Memphis Grizzlies official Instagram account posting more highlights of their franchise player.
In the clip, Morant is shown dunking the ball multiple times in an empty Murray State gym. How do I know that it’s a Murray State gym, you ask? Good question. The Murray State colors are painted across the wall with a “Racers” scoreboard in the top right of some of the shots.
Morant’s dunks can be seen below:
The video starts out with Morant performing a relatively simple dunk. Well, maybe simple isn’t the right word, as his head nearly hits the rim in the clip. This is just another example of Morant’s unnatural athleticism on display.
The second clip is a flashier dunk and one that may look familiar to Grizzlies fans. Morant catches an alley-oop pass, double clutches while doing a 360, and throwing down the basketball. Memphis fans saw a similar dunk during their playoff series against the Jazz.
The last dunk, however, steals the show.
Morant catches another lob pass, this time off the ground, turning his back to the hoop, swinging the ball low, and dunking the basketball. This is the type of dunk that you just have to watch for yourself, as you don’t see finishes like this every day.
Hopefully, Morant is also practicing his 3-point shooting but he will undoubtedly bring more highlight dunks to the court in the 2021-22 season.
