The Memphis Grizzlies had a remarkable season in 2020-21, even if they left off on a sour note in the NBA Playoffs. They improved in almost every category on both sides of the ball, even without one of their key big men.

That said, there were plenty of areas of improvement moving forward.

Specifically, the Grizzlies’ 3-point shooting could improve. It wasn’t bad in 2021, but you have to be able to shoot the long-ball in today’s league. Memphis ranked in the bottom half of the league with a 35.6% clip from the 3-point line.

Perhaps even more worryingly, they attempted the 6th-fewest three-balls in the league. And part of that is due to the fact that this team couldn’t get into a rhythm all year long. As a result, you begin to point the finger at certain players that could improve their shooting, which is exactly what I’m going to do today.

Here are three Memphis Grizzlies players who need to improve their shooting in the offseason.

Honorable Mention: Memphis Grizzlies G Dillon Brooks was inconsistent from deep in 2021

Dillon Brooks wasn’t a bad shooter in the 2020-21 season, rather, his shooting was extremely inconsistent. In some games, he would look like a lights-out shooter from deep and other days he would look like he has never shot a basketball.

But we know he can.

In fact, his percentages didn’t drop drastically from prior years. Still, 2021 saw his worst shooting percentages of his career, which may have come as a result of him taking a career-high volume of deep balls at 5.6 per game.

As the season progressed, Brooks did become a craftier scorer on 2-point shots, so this could open a door for him to get better looks from long range. Surely, he’ll be putting up a lot of shots this offseason and we should see his averages return to normal next year.
