Memphis Grizzlies F Brandon Clarke had a rough year, highlighted by poor 3-point shooting

A year ago, we were discussing the fact that Brandon Clarke could have a huge second year with the Grizzlies. He was one of the most surprising rookies in the league and looked unstoppable in the paint at times. To add to that, he was an extremely reliable 3-point shooter compared to most rookie forwards.

But year two saw regressions in almost every area for Clarke, at least on the offensive end. We talked about Clarke’s sophomore slump the other day, but in this article, we’re focusing specifically on shooting.

Of each player on this team, BC had arguably the most worrying shooting slump. His percentage dropped 9.9% from a season ago with no obvious reason behind it. He only took 0.2 more shots per game, so the only real reason that you could pin on this is an inconsistency in his role on the team.

The Grizz used new rotations every game due to injuries and the loss of Jaren Jackson Jr. Maybe this played a role in Clarke’s shooting woes.

Either way, the former Gonzaga forward will be spending a lot of time in the gym, as his long-range shooting was a key part of his game during his rookie season. If he can get back on track from deep, his entire game would see a significant boost.
