Whether you’re a Memphis Grizzlies fan or a Philadelphia 76ers fan, you’re probably familiar with the recent woes of Ben Simmons.

While Simmons can be a strong player, especially on the defensive end, his offensive inefficiencies may have cost his team a shot to compete in their respective conference finals. It became clear that he was afraid to shoot the ball at the end of the game throughout the entire series. Here are his shooting numbers in each game of the team’s series against the Atlanta Hawks:

  • Game 1: 2-2
  • Game 2: 0-0
  • Game 3: 1-1
  • Game 4: 0-0
  • Game 5: 0-0
  • Game 6: 0-0
  • Game 7: 0-0

His shooting, or lack thereof, may have doomed his team in this year’s NBA Playoffs, sending his future into question. And while he will most likely return next season in a Philadelphia 76ers uniform for the 2021-22 season, this doesn’t stop the media from prodding into his business and questioning.

This sports blog is no exception.

Realistically speaking, should the Memphis Grizzlies attempt to trade for Ben Simmons?

Simmons’ status is currently up in the air, but the 76ers cannot be happy with the way that he performed in the playoffs.

Fortunately, Grizzlies fans don’t currently hold any particular stake in Simmons’ performances, so it won’t mean anything negative for them. In fact, the exact opposite may be true.

If there has ever been a time to make a trade for a high-quality player like Simmons, now is the time. The Australian point guard is trending down, which means that a Memphis team full of trade assets could steal him for cheap right now.

Right now, we’ll be looking into why the Grizzlies should try to trade for Ben Simmons and why they shouldn’t try to trade for Ben Simmons.
