Generally speaking, this website will talk about everything relating to the Memphis Grizzlies on the court. Heck, we even dive into off-the-court news and analysis every so often. This, however, may be further off of the court than we’ve ever been.
On Tuesday, Grizzlies G Grayson Allen announced a new sponsorship, but not a basketball one.
Instead, Allen announced his partnership with Turtle Beach, a well-known gaming headset company. The old heads that read Beale Street Bears contend will likely be extremely confused, so if that applies to you, scroll down and I’ll link a basketball-related article for you to read.
For those who still know what’s going on, this is actually a pretty interesting sponsorship for Grayson Allen. If you were unaware, Allen is an avid gamer. He streams games like Apex Legends, Call of Duty, and others and has a loyal audience.
There aren’t a ton of endorsements available for gamers, but gaming headsets are one of them. If you’re like me, Turtle Beach headsets were a huge part of your life growing up. This is a great sponsorship for Allen’s gaming career that is still in its early stages.
Generally speaking, Allen takes his gaming streams more seriously than many other NBA streamers, dedicating time to becoming a great player. He even has an Instagram page with highlights from specific games.
Hopefully, Memphis Grizzlies G Grayson Allen can be a better basketball player than he is a streamer
I want to be clear that I wish nothing but the best for Grayson Allen as a streamer. His streams are genuinely fun to watch and this sponsorship is well-earned. That said, let’s hope that doesn’t end up becoming his bread and butter.
The Memphis Grizzlies will need Allen, a player who was their starting shooting guard for most of the 2020-21 season, to step up as a strong shooter next season. Allen played extremely well for the bulk of the year but was slightly inconsistent in 2021. When he struggled from deep, the Grizzlies generally struggled along with him.
Allen averaged over 10 points per game in 2021, the highest of his career. His shooting numbers dipped slightly, but he still flirted with 40% from deep. Expect him to continue to be a sharpshooter for a team that needs improved shooting.
