Memphis Grizzlies F Jaren Jackson Jr. had an expected slow year in 2020-21

Putting Jaren Jackson Jr. on this list is a bit of a cop-out, as Jackson Jr. hardly played in the 2020-21 season. The 21-year old forward didn’t actually step onto the court until near the end of April, appearing in just 11 regular-season games.

Even though he had a rough year statistically, history tells us that Jackson Jr. will have a big bounce-back year in 2021. Here’s why.

JJJ is a player that takes time to settle in. We went into deep detail on this near the end of last season. Long story short, Jackson Jr. struggles in the first ~20 games of any given season, peaking near the end of the year.

He appeared in 18 games this past season.

Name an offensive statistic and we’ll likely see a significant year-to-year jump for Jackson. The former Michigan State forward saw career lows in points per game, field goal percentage, 3-point field goal percentage, and virtually any other offensive stat.

Oddly enough, his player efficiency rating and rebounding numbers saw a pretty drastic increase despite limited minutes.

Expect a huge year out of Jaren Jackson Jr. in 2021, especially on the offensive end.
