The Memphis Grizzlies shocked the NBA world on Monday when reports confirmed that they would be swapping first-round picks with the New Orleans Pelicans. Specifically, they’d be sending Jonas Valanciunas and both of their picks to the Pelicans in exchange for Steven Adams, Eric Bledsoe, and two higher picks (plus a 2022 first-rounder).
The Grizzlies making a trade didn’t come as a huge surprise but the trade itself was. Memphis seemed relatively happy, especially with Jonas Valanciunas, who emerged as one of the best centers in the NBA last season. Seeing his name involved in the trade won’t bring a smile to anybody’s face in the city of Memphis.
That said, there’s no reason to believe that the Grizzlies will stop there. In fact, reports have already surfaced that the Grizzlies are heavily interested in continuing to trade up beyond the No. 10 pick, which they acquired in their trade with the Pels.
The Memphis Grizzlies have enough trade capital to make another trade
Even though this may seem far-fetched, the Grizzlies have a fair chunk of trade capital that they could work with during this offseason. Reports have also already surfaced that Eric Bledsoe will not be spending any time playing for the Grizzlies this season, so most will assume that he’ll be thrown into a trade package.
This begs the question — which teams are the Grizzlies looking to trade with?
Today, I’m going to break down three teams that the Grizz could potentially trade with to move further up in the draft.
