In 2021, the Memphis Grizzlies will have two things that they didn’t have a season ago — Ziaire Williams and a healthy lineup. While both of these things still hold question marks of their own, the Grizzlies will have options that they didn’t have a season ago.

As a result, we may see some creativity with the starting lineup, even if Taylor Jenkins starts the season with the expected lineup of Ja Morant, Dillon Brooks, Kyle Anderson, Jaren Jackson Jr., and Steven Adams.

Today, I’m going to be going over three Memphis Grizzlies starting lineups that Taylor Jenkins has to try this season, excluding the obvious aforementioned lineup.

Memphis Grizzlies lineup No. 1: Athletes from top to bottom, defense from top to bottom

PG: Ja Morant

SG: Ziaire Williams

SF: Dillon Brooks

PF: Jaren Jackson Jr.

C: Steven Adams

This lineup may not surprise you very much, at least not at first. In fact, there’s a very strong chance that the Grizzlies will march this starting five out onto the court at some point during the 2021-22 season.

Technically, this isn’t the Grizzlies’ most athletic lineup, but it’s the most realistic athletic lineup. Between Ja Morant, Ziaire Williams, and Jaren Jackson Jr., there will be three almost guaranteed mismatches that Memphis could take advantage of.

I wanted to fit Brandon Clarke into this lineup, but with Adams and Jackson manning the frontcourt, I didn’t see a spot for him.

If Dillon Brooks ups his shooting percentages and Ziaire Williams turns out to be a solid 3-point shooter, this could be a deadly lineup from beyond the 3-point line from deep. As things stand, this starting five has a lot of potential, but a relatively low floor.

This lineup already has elite perimeter defense with Dillon Brooks and Ziaire Williams, so defensively, this would be a huge upgrade, especially considering the addition of Steven Adams.

This, in my opinion, would be the ideal starting lineup by the end of 2021-22.
