Memphis Grizzlies Lineup No. 2: Shooters, shooters, and more shooters

PG: Ja Morant

SG: Desmond Bane

SF:  John Konchar

PF: Jaren Jackson Jr.

C: Xavier Tillman Sr.

Did I just lose all credibility by even suggesting that this could be a Memphis Grizzlies starting lineup next season? Possibly.

Think of this as more of a “dream scenario” lineup. It probably won’t happen, it probably wouldn’t work, but under the right circumstances, why not try it?

Even though the odds of this starting five marching out onto the court seem extremely low, here’s why this makes sense. For starters, with Steven Adams on the roster instead of Jonas Valanciunas, Memphis isn’t necessarily married to the idea of having a single center in the starting lineup, especially when that center can’t space the floor. Who knows if Adams will even be on the roster come the regular season.

With Xavier Tillman progressing, Jenkins can get creative with the lineup.

The biggest surprise on this lineup will be the choice of John Konchar. That said, “Konch” played great basketball every time he stepped out onto the floor in 2020-21. The Grizzlies’ afterthought of a wing was a feisty defender, averaging 0.7 steals in just 13 minutes per game. He knocked down the 3-ball, shooting 37.5% from deep, which was fourth on the team last season.

Along with Desmond Bane, Jaren Jackson Jr., and Xavier Tillman, there would never be more space on the floor than there was with this lineup. You could even swap Bane for Melton, who technically led the team in 3-point shooting percentage for a large portion of last season.

If Memphis used this lineup, you could guarantee a great game out of Ja Morant, who would have more room to work with than he has had in his career.
