Memphis Grizzlies two-guard Desmond Bane continues to improve every day

Grizzlies fans weren’t thrilled when Desmond Bane was picked up in the 2020 NBA Draft. They weren’t necessarily upset about the selection but nobody saw the pick coming.

Fast forward a year and the Grizzlies may have gotten the steal of the draft. Bane has already become the most consistent shooter out of the 2020 Draft and one of the best overall shooters in the league. His 43.2% was 13th-best in the league, which played a huge role in improving the Grizzlies’ overall 3-point shooting percentage, even with the absence of JJJ.

In this offseason’s Summer League, Bane has become the leader of the team. He’s the second-leading scorer out of all eligible players in the entirety of Summer League, averaging 19 points per contest. Most importantly, he looks like an alpha dog out on the court.

Bane exudes confidence and has we’re quickly discovering, has the ability to take over a game on offense. He has been the leader of the Summer League Grizzlies and nobody else is coming close to that title.

Bane could find his way into the starting lineup depending on what Taylor Jenkins plans to do to start the season. Dillon Brooks has never looked comfortable as a shooting guard, so rather than the expected lineup of Morant, Brooks, Anderson, Jackson, and Adams, Jenkins may elect to go with Morant, Bane, Brooks, Jackson, and Adams.
