It seems like those who work in the Memphis Grizzlies front office haven’t eaten, slept, or done anything outside of formulating trades this offseason. I’m exaggerating, but on a serious note, the Grizzlies have been the most active NBA team over the past few weeks, even though their roster is overcapacity.

As much as it would be nice for things to cool down, the Grizzlies are not going to begin 2021-22 with 18 men on the roster, so you can expect at least one more trade before the start of the season. That said, it’s never too early to start looking ahead to the upcoming season — a theme that leads me to my next point.

Small changes will add up for the Memphis Grizzlies on the court

Even though Jonas Valanciunas is the only high-profile player to be shipped off, the Grizzlies will look like an entirely different team next season. Small changes like the departure of Grayson Allen and the likely ensuing trade of Tyus Jones will go a longer way than my fans might expect.

Adding Ziaire Williams via the 2021 NBA Draft will make a difference too, even if it isn’t immediately obvious.

Plus, it’s important to keep in mind that Memphis played nearly their entire 2020-21 season without their co-star in Jaren Jackson Jr. Even when the long-bodied big man returned to action, he never looked comfortable on the court.

Without the roster additions and subtractions this offseason, things would change. The activity thus far only adds to the differences that we’ll see. So without further ado, here are three changes to expect from the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2021-22 season.
